| My name is John
Hagy and I grew up in the Southeast. While in high school
I was able to take art classes at the local college. I chose
to take a clay class with Tim Taunton, a ceramic figurative
artist.
It seemed like the natural thing to do since I had played
with clay my entire childhood. One class led to another and
I discovered my passion. After graduating from LaGrange College
with a B.A. in Art and Design I became a stone mason to save
money for classes at a craft school in Penland, NC. After
I took a concentration course there I realized where I needed
to be if I really wanted to become a potter. So I moved to
the area and became a core student after I worked for the
school for a year.
This opportunity with EnergyXchange
is giving me the studio space and kiln I need to develop my
work of utilitarian clay objects for the home and garden.
I am a potter for a very simple reason; I love making things
out of clay that people can use and embellish their daily
lives with. |
